Oxygen became a scarce commodity in India during the raging Delta variant wave in April and May 2021. Patients afflicted by the deadly virus across the country gasped for breath as vendors quoted astronomical sums for oxygen concentrators and cylinders. In many cases, oxygen was just not available.
In response to this grim scenario, the ICA allocated $16,000 from its 2021 charitable fundraiser to purchase 15 oxygen concentrators. The ICA collaborated with Rev. Dr. Barnabe D’Souza, rector of Don Bosco School, Nerul, Maharashtra to arrange for the distribution of these machines in areas with the most urgent need. The committee is deeply grateful to everyone who generously contributed to this worthy cause.
